10-Day Phuket, Phi Phi & Krabi Itinerary
This route is for travelers who want more than a Phuket beach holiday. You’ll start with Phuket’s culture and beaches, sleep on Phi Phi instead of rushing it as a day trip, then finish among the limestone cliffs of Krabi.
Phuket for 4 nights, Phi Phi for 2 nights, Krabi for 3 nights, then depart from Krabi or return to Phuket.
First-timers who want beaches, boats, viewpoints, food, and a proper island-hopping rhythm.
Use ferries for comfort, speedboats for time savings, and longtail boats for Railay and Krabi island days.
November to April for calmer seas. In green season, keep boat days flexible and avoid overbooking.
How to Think About This 10-Day Route
A good Phuket, Phi Phi, and Krabi itinerary should not feel like a luggage workout. The mistake is trying to see every island from one hotel base. You spend too much time on transfers, arrive at the famous bays with everyone else, and never feel the difference between places.
This version moves west to east: start in Phuket, stay overnight on Phi Phi Don, then continue to Krabi. Phuket gives you variety and food, Phi Phi gives you cliffs and blue water, and Krabi gives you the dramatic limestone scenery that makes the Andaman coast feel cinematic.
Before You Book Boats and Hotels
For Phuket, base yourself around Kata, Karon, or Old Town if you want easy first-time logistics. For Phi Phi, choose Tonsai if you want convenience and nightlife, Long Beach for a softer beach stay, or Laem Tong if you want a quieter northern resort feel. In Krabi, Ao Nang is the easiest hub for boats, restaurants, and transfers; Railay is more special but less practical with luggage.
Phuket101’s island guides are right about one big thing: Phi Phi is spectacular, but expectations matter. Maya Bay and Pi Leh Lagoon can be busy, and Tonsai is more of a lively village than an untouched paradise. The trick is to sleep on Phi Phi and use early mornings, not to pretend crowds do not exist.
Local Planning Rule
Do not book a long boat tour the same day as a hotel transfer unless you are traveling very light. In this itinerary, transfer days are deliberately lighter so you arrive with energy.
Arrive in Phuket
Airport transfer, beach base, easy first sunset
Land at Phuket International Airport and keep the first day gentle. After immigration and luggage, your real decision is whether to sleep near the west-coast beaches or in Old Town. For a first trip with island hopping ahead, I prefer Kata or Karon because you get an easy beach evening and still have access to the south.
Afternoon: Settle Your Logistics
Use a pre-booked transfer if you have luggage, or compare Grab and Bolt if you arrive outside rush hour. If your hotel is near the beach, do not chase attractions immediately. Check in, buy a local SIM if needed, and confirm your Phi Phi ferry or speedboat for Day 5.
Evening: Low-Pressure Beach Time
Walk Kata, Karon, or Nai Harn at sunset, then have a simple Thai dinner close to your hotel. The goal is to reset your body clock and avoid turning the first night into a late Patong mission.
Old Town & Local Food
Sino-Portuguese streets, cafes, night market
Start the trip with Phuket’s identity before you disappear into islands. Old Town gives you Sino-Portuguese shophouses, street art, local cafes, and the kind of food that explains why Phuket is more than beaches.
Morning: Dim Sum and Heritage Streets
Go early for local dim sum, then walk Thalang Road, Dibuk Road, and Soi Romanee before the afternoon heat. If you enjoy cafes, pair this with our Phuket Old Town cafe guide.
Evening: Market or Southern Thai Dinner
If it is Sunday, plan around Lard Yai Walking Street Market. If not, book a Southern Thai restaurant and order dishes that are harder to find outside Phuket: moo hong, crab curry, stink beans with shrimp, and local-style fried noodles.
South Phuket Icons
Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, Nai Harn
Today is the classic south Phuket loop. It gives you temples, viewpoints, and one of the island’s most loved beaches without needing a boat.
Morning: Big Buddha and Wat Chalong
Start early at Big Buddha, then continue to Wat Chalong. Dress respectfully, keep shoulders and knees covered, and avoid the hottest part of the day if you are sensitive to heat.
Afternoon and Sunset: Nai Harn to Promthep
Spend the afternoon at Nai Harn Beach, then choose Windmill Viewpoint or Promthep Cape for sunset. Keep dinner simple in Rawai, where seafood restaurants and casual local spots are easier than crossing back through traffic.
Phang Nga Bay
Sea caves, hongs, James Bond scenery
Before you go south to Phi Phi, spend one day in the limestone world north-east of Phuket. Phang Nga Bay is different from Phi Phi: calmer water, mangroves, sea caves, and vertical karst scenery.
Best Way to Do It
If budget allows, choose a smaller boat or private longtail instead of the biggest group tour. You want enough time for a sea-canoe experience inside the hongs and a slower lunch stop. If you are prone to seasickness, this is usually gentler than exposed open-sea island tours.
Evening: Pack for Phi Phi
Do laundry, repack, and separate your boat-day essentials. On Phi Phi, there are no cars in the main village, so lighter luggage makes arrival much more pleasant.

Phuket to Phi Phi
Ferry or speedboat, viewpoint, Tonsai
Travel from Phuket to Phi Phi Don. Ferries from Phuket are slower but more relaxed; speedboats save time but can be bouncy. Phuket101 notes that Phi Phi sits about 40 km southeast of Phuket, with ferry and speedboat options running daily, so this is one of the easiest island transfers in the region.
Afternoon: Check In and Climb the Viewpoint
After arrival at Tonsai, check in and walk up to Phi Phi Viewpoint in the late afternoon. The climb is sweaty but worth it, especially when the twin bays catch the softer light.
Evening: Choose Your Phi Phi Carefully
If you want energy, stay around Tonsai and Loh Dalum. If you want sleep, avoid rooms directly in the party zone. Phi Phi is beautiful, but it is not silent in the center.
Phi Phi Leh, Maya Bay & Pi Leh Lagoon
Early boat, national park scenery, Bamboo Island
This is the day you came for: Phi Phi Leh, Maya Bay, Pi Leh Lagoon, and the cliffs that made Phi Phi famous. Go early and use a reputable boat operator. Maya Bay access can change for environmental protection, so confirm rules the day before.
Morning: Beat the Day-Trip Wave
Start with Maya Bay or Pi Leh Lagoon before the Phuket day-trip boats arrive. Pi Leh is usually the better swimming stop, while Maya Bay is more about the beach, cliffs, and national-park setting.
Afternoon: Bamboo Island or Long Beach
If the weather is calm, add Bamboo Island for white sand and snorkeling. If you are tired, stay closer to Phi Phi Don and finish with Long Beach or a quiet northern beach instead.
Phi Phi to Krabi
Ao Nang base, Krabi Town evening
Leave Phi Phi for Krabi. Ferries connect Phi Phi with Krabi, and this transfer is shorter than returning to Phuket first. Base yourself in Ao Nang if you want restaurants, tour counters, and easy longtail access to Railay.
Afternoon: Ao Nang Reset
Check in, walk Ao Nang, and book tomorrow’s Railay longtail. Ao Nang Beach is convenient rather than spectacular, but that convenience matters after several boat days.
Evening: Krabi Town or Ao Nang Night Market
If you have energy, go into Krabi Town for the evening market. If not, stay in Ao Nang and keep it easy. Krabi is quieter than Phuket at night, and that is part of the charm.
Railay & Phra Nang Beach
Longtail boat, limestone cliffs, beach walking
Railay is the Krabi postcard: limestone cliffs, longtail boats, and beaches that feel cut off from the mainland even though Ao Nang is close. Phuket101 explains that Railay is really a cluster of areas: Railay West, Railay East, Phra Nang Beach, and Tonsai.
Morning: Longtail to Railay West
Catch a longtail boat from Ao Nang. Boats usually wait until enough passengers are ready, so do not plan this minute-by-minute. Walk from Railay West through the lanes toward Phra Nang Beach.
Afternoon: Phra Nang and a Slow Lunch
Phra Nang has some of the most dramatic cliff scenery in Krabi. Swim, explore the cave area respectfully, and stay for late-afternoon light before returning to Ao Nang.
Hong Island or Four Islands
Lagoon, Poda, Chicken Island, snorkeling
Use your final full day for one more Krabi island trip. Choose Hong Island if you want a lagoon and a more enclosed limestone setting, or the Four Islands route if you want a classic mix of Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Tup Island, and Phra Nang.
Which One Should You Pick?
Hong Island is my choice for couples and photographers. Four Islands is better for families and travelers who want more stops in one day. Either way, bring reef-safe sunscreen, a dry bag, and patience at the most famous swimming spots.
Slow Krabi Departure
Tubkaek, spa, airport or Phuket transfer
Do not waste the last day in a transfer panic. If you fly from Krabi, keep the morning slow. If you need to return to Phuket, allow roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road, more if weather or holiday traffic is involved.
Morning: One Quiet Beach
If time allows, go to Tubkaek or Nopparat Thara for a softer final walk. Tubkaek has wide views toward the Hong Islands and feels more peaceful than central Ao Nang.
Final Advice
This 10-day Phuket, Phi Phi, and Krabi itinerary works because it respects geography. Phuket gives you the widest variety, Phi Phi rewards an overnight stay, and Krabi is best when you slow down and let the cliffs do the work.
